The floating book fair on board the ship (Logos II) has arrived in Al-Sha'ap harbour in Tripoli.
The ship is hosted by Watassimou Association for Charitable work, and sponsored by the General People's Committee for Culture and Information, at the out set of the activities of Tripoli, the capital of Islamic Culture for 2007.
The floating book fair has 600,000 titles in various disciplines including dictionaries, medical sciences, social sciences, computer, children books and stories.
The ship is run by the German " Valuable Books for all Society" and has a staff off 210 from 40 nationalities from various continents.
It aims at promoting cultural exchanges to underline contacts among peoples and emphasize the principle of volunteer work and work for others and develop the spirit of providence among world youth.
The book fair is opened from 10am to 10pm and up to January 11.
Watassimou Assocaition sources said the fair will sell books directly to the public at token prices, which is to be affordable to every one.
The activities of the floating book fair will include several visits, meetings and dialogue, artistic shows and fashion.
Logos II ship is the largest and oldest floating book fair and founded in 1989.
The ship called at more than 280 ports in 76 countries in Africa, Americas and Europe.
