Leader and King Juan Carlos continue discussions 2009-1-25

The Leader of the Revolution and King Juan Carlos of Spain on Saturday continued discussions on issues of common interest, which started Friday evening.
During the meeting, King Juan Carlos reiterated delight to meet with the leader once again and expressed pride of the leader's friendship, he emphasized that his visit to Great Jamahiriya is a step forward for cooperation between both countries.
The Secretary of the GPC for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation said the meeting was attended by dozens of Spanish businessmen who are working and wish to work in the different areas in Libya, he clarified that the existing economic cooperation between both countries is vast.
In this regard, he indicated the oil cooperation, where the Spanish oil company produces more than (300,000) barrels a day, in addition to the Spanish companies working in the areas of construction and infrastructure.
The Secretary said the Spanish side also expressed its readiness to cooperate with Great Jamahiriya in the area of joint investment and development in Africa.
He added during the meeting, discussion also dealt with the promotion of cooperation projects in the area of agriculture and renewable energy, especially winds and the sun, he indicated the signing of a memorandum of understanding between both countries in the area of renewable energy, as Libya is one the richest countries in solar energy and Spain is one of the most experienced countries in area.
Talks also dealt with bolstering economic relations between both countries, especially guaranteeing and protecting investment, where an agreement was signed and ratified by the Spanish parliament, and now its presented to the Basic People's Congresses in Great Jamahiriya.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary of the General People's Committee, the Secretary of the GPC for Foreign Liaison and International Cooperation and the committee's Secretary of Arab Affairs, and on the Spanish side the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the deputy State Minister for Trade and Spain's ambassador to Great Jamahiriya.
