2006-01-03 Libyan doctors living abroad are visiting Libya to conduct some operations and give consultations for doctors in Libya.
The programme is sponsored by Wa?tasimu Charitable Organization to execute the recommendations of the 1st Libyan Physicians' Conference, held between 31/7- 2nd August 2005.
The visit aims at running an advanced Trauma Support course, running clinics in the different specialties, to see difficult cases for second opinion, and teaching, medical students and junior staff.
The visit started in Tripoli by visiting the Tripoli Medical Center (TMC). They were received by Dr. Ibrahim Jabeel, who welcomed the delegation and delegated his staff to accompany the Physicians to their respective department they gave lectures over two days, ran few clinics in their respective specialty. They helped in some Neurosurgical procedures.
The team then moved on to Benghazi were they were received officially by the secretary of Health in Benghazi, Dr. Adel Al-Deeb and Dr.Abdel Bari Menfi who is heading the reception committee Similarly the visiting doctors gave lecture, participated in the clinical round. Professor Gehani was able to perform few angioplasties, stinting procedures.
The last stop was the city of Albeida, were the objective was to give the Advanced Trauma Support course to 24 Libyan Physicians from Albeida,Al Merge, Derna and Toubrek. We had a superb organization committee headed by Dr. Ettreki and Dr. Faraj Saber.
The course ran over full two days it included lectures presentations, practice session and scenarios followed by an exam, and handling the certificates of graduations to all the Candidates. In addition to that clinics were conducted in all the specialties of the respected physicians.
Dr. Naji Barakat, Chairman of Libyan Doctors Society Abroad, expressed his happiness and those of his friends in visiting Libya. He said this visit is to be followed by other visits in future to raise awareness among people and give medical courses to doctors here.
?Over all it was a successful visit and every one enjoy the journeys of the team from Tripoli to Benghazi to Albeida. The team also enjoyed the hospitality of people of Benghazi and Albeida.? He says.
?Few other things agreed to be done in future with colleagues in different centers which all will be done under the same aims and objectives of this visit and to implement the results and recommendations from the first conference.? Dr. Naji Added.
